Drawn Together Workshops Presents:

See Like Lanyon - 2 Part Series

Venue: The Shipyard Market, Porthleven, Cornwall

NOW CANCELLED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES - DATES TO BE RESCHEDULED FOR 2027.

This extortionary 2 part workshop series starting 3rd August 2026, is a brilliant introduction to the works of legendary artist Peter Lanyon. Deep dive into his world and allow his work to influence and shape your own art development. Hosted by artist Liz Dickinson - @steelworks.art who has a deep love of Lanyon’s legacy. Lanyon continues to inform Liz’s art practise and work, we are delighted to have Liz lead this exciting, dynamic and hands-on project that will inspire or rejuvenate your own artwork. In this workshop not only will we learn about Lanyon, but we will use experimental and creative processes to explore our own work, using media such a collage and a variety of mediums like charcoal, paint and graphite and see how Lanyon’s vision can inform our own!

Pater Lanyon was a British painter of landscapes leaning heavily towards abstraction and was one of the most important artists to emerge in post-war Brittan. Combining abstract values with radical ideas about landscape & figure, Lanyon navigated a course from Constructivism through Abstract Expressionism and his art legacy continues to inspire and influence many artists today.

We recommend the full 2 part course if you wish to further develop your art practice, or, you may wish to book a one off workshop in this series that may be of interest specifically. This workshop is a developmental programme, we will work towards a final art piece over the 2 weeks and have many discussions as a group along the way, as well as being supported individually.

See poster for more details.

Please note these workshops are or everyone over the age of 16 years.

Drawn Together Workshops Presents:

Path & Pencils - Sunset Walking & Drawing Workshop

4 Part Series

Venue: The Great Outdoors! Meet up point outside The Old Life Boat House, Porthleven (Just the other side of / up from the Ship Inn Pub ) 6.30pm meeting time every week.

NOW CANCELLED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES - DATES TO BE RESCHEDULED FOR 2027.

What better way to see the beautiful village of Porthleven than at sunset, this golden hour guided drawing workshop will bring a new perspective to this amazing location! This gentle walking and drawing workshop series will take you around the village, guided by professional local artist Emma Frances. Discover drawing on location, with all your materials included. Each week we will investigate a different medium and work in sketchbooks and on paper!

We will navigate around the village starting outside the beautiful Old Life Boat House, stopping at different view points to draw and collect visual information along the way, walking around the harbour head, past the iconic Clock Tower we will make our way to the beautiful sea view point ( National Trust ) Parc-An-Als where we will rest for a while and then create some larger works on paper, based on the visual studies we have made along the way. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the best of Porthleven, take in some stunning views and make some beautiful works of art ‘En Plein Air’ - meaning ‘in the open air’.

This workshop will require walking on some uneven ground, such a cobble stones, gravel tracks and minor village roads and back streets. In the latter part of the workshop we will encounter a ‘not so terrible’ but steady incline, from the clock tower to Parc-An-Als vantage point. We will be stopping along the way for resting, drawing and walking. At our final destination, we will be sitting on a grassy cliff top over looking the stunning vista across Mounts Bay to make some final drawings as the sun sets.

PLEASE READ : This workshop will involve standing to draw, leaning, walking and sitting at ground level. We highly recommend bringing a hands free back pack for your pencil case and sketch book and for any personal belongings, something soft to sit on like a small towel or blanket. We encourage everyone to take a snack and water bottle, with suitable attire for the weather conditions on the day and with comfortable footwear! A hat to shade your eyes and sunglasses will make this experience much more comfortable if its very sunny. FULL T&C’S WILL BE SENT VIA EMAIL UPON BOOKING. This workshop will run weather depending on the day, if not it will be rescheduled to a different day.

We recommend the full course if you wish to further develop your art practice, or, you may wish to book a one off workshop in this series that may be of interest specifically.
